Research Paper Unit

December 16th- Continue working on, and finish 75% of for bonus on the final, your semester final study guide. Download and submit through Google Classroom.
December 15th- Continue working on the final draft of your research paper. Download the works cited template from Google Classroom and move it into your final draft when it is complete. Submit your paper by midnight (11:59 p.m.) tonight!
December 14th- Two-read peer editing! Partner up and use the peer editing checklist to comb through your partner's paper looking for fixable writing mistakes listed on the sheet (1st read). Read your partner's paper out loud and fix simple capitalization and punctuation mistakes (2nd read).
December 11th- Download the Rough Draft template of from Google Classroom. When completed on your Checklist, transfer your work to the rough draft template and put into paragraph form by deleting the sentence markers. Submit your Rough Draft by midnight (11:59 p.m.) Sunday!
December 10th- Continue working on the rough draft of your paper. In-class lecture over the Introduction and Conclusion Paragraphs of your research paper including: the Hook, broad to narrow Intro, the Thesis Statement, and narrow to broad Conclusion, final takeaway sentiments (wrap-up).
December 9th- Start expanding your research and concrete details into your writing of a rough draft. Use the checklist to make sure you have the sentences your need in proper order. In-class lecture over body paragraphs, internal citations, and Schaffer paragraph organization structure.
December 8th- Your Thesis Statement and the Topic Sentences (TS) for your 3 body paragraphs are due by the end of the hour today for rough draft expansion tomorrow.
December 7th- Download the template for the Research Paper Checklist and the Research Paper Blueprint/Thesis Outline. The outline has instructions for each of your papers paragraphs, as well as how to create a Thesis Statement based on a thesis and a blueprint. The checklist is an organizational tool for your papers paragraphs and sentences.
December 4th- Continue finding articles and organizing their URL's, citations, and concrete details onto your Concrete Detail Template from Google Classroom. Your 6 articles and citations are due by midnight (11:59 p.m.) tonight!
December 3rd- Download the Concrete Detail template from Google Classroom. This is where you will organize the articles you find in research, as well as the concrete details you pull from those articles. You will also create citations for your articles using EasyBib.com and place them in the citation spot on the template. In-class lecture on turning quotes into concrete details with the appropriate internal citation.
December 2nd- In Google Classroom, post you topic to the selection question. Begin searching for articles on your topic.
December 1st- In-class discussion of the various research methods we will be employing to find academic articles over your selected topic (scholarly articles, academic journal articles, news articles, etc.) Start narrowing down your topic selection.

October 6th- Class discussion over classroom community and extrinsic motivation, then work on personal narrative. The rough draft version of your personal narrative is due today, it should have paragraph form, a title, and be at the completion length of two full pages.
October 5th- Work on personal narrative for the first half of class. It should be nearing rough draft form: separate paragraphs, final expansions and omissions, and 2 page minimum/3 page maximum. When complete with narrative, continue work on study guide.
